ISD Youth
x = independently organized TED event

Theme: Existing Together

This event occurred on
September 14, 2024
Debrecen-Pallag, Hajdú-Bihar
Hungary

This event is more than just a series of talks; it’s a celebration of our collective identity and a call to elevate our aspirations.

Throughout the day, you can attend four fascinating presentations that weave together a story of interconnectedness, reflecting our connections within the ISD community. Each talk builds on the previous one, creating a connected and thought-provoking journey.

So, why this theme? In our community, we often see individuals setting modest expectations, which can shape their actions and achievements. This event aims to challenge that norm, inspiring students to raise their self-expectations and, in turn, elevate their actions to meet the higher standards we aspire to as a community.

Dora Bereczki

Youth Olympic Champion in Ice Hockey, Student at ISD
She stands out not only as an exemplary learner but also as a youth Olympic champion in ice hockey. Dora will recount her story as an Olympic athlete, highlighting the highs and lows she encountered while training for this special event. Her speech asks important questions about her perceived role in her sport as a girl while mentioning the limitations on her ability to dream a career in this sport. But what helped her turn the initial push from the community into one of the strongest pulls? Her talk will have you consider your choices as a sports consumer from an athlete's perspective.

Semih Ersöz

CEO of SOPU Academy
Semih Ersöz, the founder of SOPU Academy, is a Turkish-born trainer and an educator at Aalto University. Through his academy, he has successfully equipped students with the skills and confidence needed to tackle future challenges using a “win-win” approach. He will touch upon the interpretation of business skills, specifically negotiation, within one's daily life to build a healthier community.
